About the course

The Advanced Anatomy course is a distance learning course and can be started at any time. This course is aimed at all non-clinically qualified clinical coders, case managers and healthcare managers, and all those desiring a career in Clinical Coding or Case Management. The course takes place over a period of 6 to 9 months, with a written online test after each section.

Course Content

• Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology of the following body systems:
  • Digestive; Urinary; Male Reproductive; Female Reproductive; Nervous; Cardiovascular; Respiratory; Blood; Lymphatic and immune; Muscoskeletal; Integumentary; Endocrine
• The sense organs: eye, ear, nose and tongue
• Introduction to:
  • Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy
  • Pharmacology
  • Psychiatry
• Diseases Mechanisms, Diagnosis and Treatment
• Diseases/Disorders
  • Developmental/Congenital & Childhood
  • Immunological
  • Eye and Ear
  • Neurologic
  • Mental Disorders
• Diseases and conditions resulting from trauma

Registration

Entry requirements: NQF 4: English, Mathematical Literacy, and completion of the Basic Anatomy & Physiology short course.
