About the course
The implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) has reached a critical watershed. Following most governments' ratification, collective action must be taken at all levels, including at the community level.
Community-based Inclusive Development (CBID) has become the gold standard for ensuring that persons with disabilities, their families, and their organisations lead local development and have equal access to social and development benefits, similar to everyone else in their communities. This course creates a pathway for local actors and decision-makers, including practitioners in education, health, and social services to receive university-level training in CBID.
This CBID short course allows participants to deepen their understanding of CBID and implementation strategies to advance disability-inclusive leadership across settings.
What can participants expect:
One module per week in an online lecture and discussion format by renowned academics and scholars in various CBID related fields. Participants will be expected to do preparation before every lecture. Submission of a final assignment will be required as part of the course expectations.
Overall time investment:
Minimum of 80% attendance for all lectures. Attendance will be monitored through signing of an attendance register at each session.
All coursework and an assignment must be completed within the prescribed time period, unless otherwise approved by the programme conveners and lecturer.
