About the course

This 6-week course aims to equip nurses working with children with a cancer or blood disorder with the essential knowledge and skills to confidently provide appropriate nursing care to these children and their families, thus preventing unnecessary deterioration or avoidable harm, and improve outcomes.

Course Content

Each week requires 4 - 5 hours of participation completed at a time to suit you. One assignment to be submitted weekly.

  • Week 2 Types of cancer
  • Week 3 Cancer treatment modalities
  • Week 4 Nursing Care
  • Week 5 Oncologic Emergencies and Blood Disorders
  • Week 6 Family Support and Palliative Care

Registration

Entry Requirements: Registered nurses (Professional and Enrolled). working caring for children with a cancer or blood disorder. All applicants MUST have previously completed one of the CNDU 16-week ‘Essentials of Nursing’ short courses OR a CNDU Nursing Postgraduate Diploma.
