About the course
iTUT is a six-topic course designed to help educators effectively and efficiently integrate technology into their teaching. It equips participants with practical skills to create and deliver content relevant to their teaching contexts. The course is especially useful for those new to e-learning or seeking greater confidence in using digital tools.
Structured as six standalone modules, the course focuses on Microsoft tools and other institution-supported technologies. Each module provides practical, hands-on experience, allowing participants to select topics that meet their needs.
iTUT is delivered in a hybrid format—both synchronous and asynchronous—using MS Teams and Amathuba (UCT’s learning management system). Sessions include interactive tools, presentations, and scholarly readings to enrich learning. Live sessions are held every Friday from 13:00 to 15:00. The course runs over six weeks, requiring 2–3 hours per week. The first session is essential for establishing the foundation for the rest of the course.
The course is fully funded by the Education Development Unit in the Faculty of Health Sciences and is free to UCT staff. Participants earn 2 CPD points per completed topic.
