About the course

The primary objective of this course is to equip participants with the necessary skills to effectively communicate scientific knowledge in the context of global health.

This involves addressing power dynamics, gender imbalances, and the economics of healthcare, thereby fostering a more equitable and informed global health landscape. Given the growing importance of clear and impactful science communication, this course is both timely and essential.

The course is aimed at Masters or PhD level postgraduates with a developed or developing a paper or policy brief relating to Global Health (Health Economics, Health Systems, Epidemiology and other health related work) that they would like to prepare as a poster or oral or pitch.

Course Content

Knowledge and understanding
After this course the student is expected to:

  • Describe and demonstrate an understanding of key concepts such as gender, equality, intersectionality, decolonization, political economy, and other power relations in Global Health.

Skills and Abilities
After this course the student is expected to:

  • Communicate research results in text, poster and oral presentations.
  • Design their own poster presentations and provide feedback to colleagues’ presentations.
  • Use available digital technologies and platforms to convey and improve their ability to communicate scientific results.
Judgement and approach
After this course the student is expected to:
  • Reflect on and analyze various power relations in global health.
  • Reflect on the use of artificial intelligence in science communication.

Registration

Entry requirements: Applicants should have a degree in one of the following areas: health sciences, environmental health, social sciences or equivalent foreign higher education. English proficiency equivalent to English B/6 from Swedish Upper secondary education is required.
