About the course

This course is aimed at registered medical practitioners who want to improve their skills in the use of Trans-Oesophageal Echocardiography (TOE) for the diagnosis and management of cardiac disorders. The course is presented by the Department of Anaesthesia. CPD points 21.

  • Principles of Echo
  • Pitfalls and Artifacts
  • Congenital Heart Disease
  • Identification of basic TOE views
  • Identification of valve pathology
  • Identification of myocardial function

Course Costs

The fee categories are:

  • Specialists: R 7,500 per person
  • Registrars and allied health professionals: R 5,500 person

Entry requirements: NQF 4: English, Mathematical Literacy, and completion of the Basic Anatomy & Physiology short course.
