About the course
The UCT Film Impact Screening Facilitator online short course is the latest offering from Sunshine Cinema and the UCT Centre for Film and Media Studies.
It is a part time, 100% online course (that combines live weekly online classes with self-paced non-synchronous learning) on how to organise, market and facilitate film screenings and audience engagements aimed at creating positive social change.
The five-month course teaches people how to use film as a tool for social change, introducing them to skilled impact producers and giving them access to a network of inspiring change makers such as:
- Gcina Mhlophe, celebrated author, poet, playwright, performer and storyteller;
- Dylan Valley, filmmaker and educator, whose virtual reality film Azibuye premiered at The Sundance Film Festival;
- Anita Khanna, writer and producer of award-winning documentaries such as Miners Shot Down.
